When the core team at Kedron isn’t knee deep cooking up tasty visuals, we can be found doing what we love; immersing ourselves outdoors.  Whether searching out tailing fish on the flats or looking for sign in the woods during archery season, nothing balances out time at work better than being unplugged and present in nature.

When we got the call from our colleagues and friends at Cold Collaborative that Sitka was creating a revolutionary new set of waders featuring proprietary Gore-Tex materials that was going to be a game changer , we knew it would result in something truly unique.

Founder and Director, Shannon Vandivier headed up the story of putting the never before released beast of a wader system through the harshest conditions this planet can offer. Captured by Shannon and long time DP and cinematic lensman, Bowen Parrish, they ventured to remote Out-Island Alaskan archery hunts in terrible conditions. Freezing salt water, howling winds, harsh shorelines, uneven terrain, set the stage for the new product testing, all in pursuit of elusive game with only a bow and arrows. It was go time.

With the backing of the masterminds at Gore-Tex , Sitka’s new wader system was a never before seen performance based tool in the lineup that would be sure to change the lives of countless hunters in nonstop pursuit of their vision, regardless  of conditions. The VentLite Wader is the first of it's kind. It eclipses every standard set by existing neoprene and rubber waders by providing optimal temperature regulation, waterproofness, breathability, lightweight comfort, and durable protection. Kedron teamed up with Cold Collective to create an up close and personal experience with the GORE-TEX layering of this cutting edge product.

The challenge is the product performs at the macro level , unable to be observed by cameras or the naked eye. The cake layer system allows moisture to leave but no water or moisture back in. Kedrons’ team of artists meticulously studied the newly invented materials and how best to represent them on screen in a manner that both captivates and educates, and when done correctly complements the mind behind the innovation and elevates the release of the ground breaking technology.

Our team built from scratch a complex series of 3D CG models that served to visually represent the new technology and how it interacted with the outdoorsman in a never before seen manner.  The final result is a mesmerizing series of interstitials and footage that brings to life the revolutionary developments from GoreTex.

Delta VentLite Wader // Product Launch Campaign

The challenge: Create a 3D animation of the GORE-TEX membrane within the typical fabric configuration (backer, GTX laminate, face fabric), while showcasing water vapor escaping through the fabric, and water droplets beading on top of face fabric. Incorporate environmental forces (water droplets, rain, snow) to tie into correlating in-field footage.
Kedron’s team of artists hyper accurately recreated the materials in Houdini and iterated sim after sim to best to represent the invisible properties on screen in a manner that both captivates the audience and educates them on the superior performance technology.

We created two worlds using this same 10 second camera move. Wader boot comes in from Left Top screen as a step is taken with the Right Foot. As the camera tracks 360° the heel of the wader boot gradually lifts throughout the shot.

Deliverable 1 // Delta VentLite Wader 3D Animation

Description: Create a 3D animation of the VentLite Boot, with hyper-realistic details and texture to give viewers an understanding feature benefits and the layers and tech within the boot. Incorporate environmental forces (water droplets, rain, snow) to tie into correlating in-field footage.
